Do you get a letter if you are on the no fly list?

How many times do we find ourselves in the middle of a conversation thinking something far and beyond what is being said. The trouble there is not getting too carried away into your own thoughts and losing track of what is being said.

Then too there is the trap of the slip saying what you are thinking and not talking about what is really being said. You’ll either sound like a lunatic or you’ll let something about what your are actually thinking about slip out or you’ll just say something that lets the other person know you are not really listening to what they have to say.

Yeah,… sure… right…ok. Then they get all bent about how you are some insensitive lunk head.

However I try to stay focused on what is being said and listening. Because a conversation is actually more about listening than it is about talking when it is your turn. The tricky part comes in determining what the other person actually wants to hear.

Do they really want your honest opinion or do they really just want you to agree with them. There are more things that could be expected as a response but you really can’t address every issue completely or nothing would ever get done. That can be tricky even if you don’t agree with someone is it sometimes better just to agree for the sake of peace or it is it better to stand your ground for piece of mind.

Mostly the things we stand our ground on are things we can be a bit more flexible about for the sake of peace however the trick there is to be sure you are only being flexible and not on your way to becoming a doormat.

Talking to people shouldn’t be so complicated

Solving problems shouldn’t be so convoluted

Do you wonder how is it that we got to this point, by we I mean me.

One conversation at a time when you could have said something different or should the other person have heard it differently. Still there is a shadow in the room
