Maybe I over think things sometimes, but then I wonder at times if I don’t think about them enough.
I’m just not sure. The shower thought today, was really rather… yeah... well I'll just leave it at that and you can wonder if it was exciting or boring. I’d give you a hint but then you wouldn’t be nearly as curious.
So I’m borrowing a different shower thought from some time back. If you died at home how long would it take for someone to notice you weren’t around?
On the surface of things it seems pretty grim but thinking on it a bit more. If you are a decent person and people enjoy seeing you then it wouldn’t be very long at all before someone thought hey so and so is missing. If you are a mean person, it might be a long time before anyone notices you weren’t around.
Hell if you were really, mean they might not ever notice you went missing at all.
I was reminded of this shower thought for two reasons. One I wrote it down and I have lots of little thoughts like that written down. I get rid of them once I use them. Secondly there was a lady didn’t die but she fell and a pizza delivery person was the first one to really notice that she wasn’t around.
That got me to thinking, people are even becoming disposable and forgotten
The lady in the news story had fallen and wasn’t able to get up…don’t do it.
She laid there for two days injured and not able to right herself. Then on the third day the normal delivery person who was off the last two days was expecting a daily delivery to the lady which was usually called in as soon as the store opened.
Another employee stated that she hadn’t called today nor the last two. To this person it meant nothing. To the delivery person it was a sign something might be wrong.
What if that driver had been just as disconnected as the phone person. Yeah, how long would she have laid there?
Until she died, would the mail man have noticed that she wasn’t getting her mail.
What if she had a through the door letter slot? No outward sign of mail and newspapers are on the decline.
Then most people direct deposit there checks now.
If you can afford it many of us make automatic payment of bills that would bring people to turn off services or cause the home to be condemned by code enforcement for not meeting some requirement.
More and more we push the world away and no one comes around our houses much.
I don’t really see my neighbors on either side of me too much usually daily. The ones across the street I never see. But I’m not usually out front.
The thing is that lady could have been there for months before anyone may have noticed she was missing.
Sometimes I hear about these cases, that a person dies alone at home and then no one knows until months later. I heard about one case in this area that was nearly 6 months before anyone discovered that the occupant of a home was dead. The longest one I read about was over a year.
Most of us would like to think it wouldn’t be very long before others noticed our absence but how long really before things began to seem out of place.
We think about it how our lives are now but what about in 20 years, 30 years, 50 years. The think that I'm trying to take away from all of this is that being a decent person is really a better choice than being all angry about stuff. Not that I won't get angry about stuff but i try.
Not all my shower thoughts are bubbly
In other news… I don’t even know what day of the week it is…le sigh.
Litter box thought…I need to clean it today. So…That’s all for now, other stuff tomorrow
Happy Birthday if it’s your birthday and a very merry un birthday if it isn’t your birthday
